At Vimy Ridge Academy everyone in our school community has the right to learn and work in an environment that is respectful, safe, healthy and focused on learning and success. In order to preserve these rights, students must also be aware of their individual responsibilities.

Vimy Ridge Academy staff will support high performance learning opportunities at our school by providing encouragement, praise, awards, and individual recognition, including referrals to the administration regarding the many positive behaviours and academic gains of our students.

In addition to this, the staff will enhance communication between the home and school by communicating to our parents the progress of their young people. This will come in the form of encouraging telephone calls, positive notes home and/or reinforcing parent/teacher/student conferences.

In our C.O.R.E values that guide our students to meet the expectations of our learning community. These values ensure a welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environment that respects diversity and fosters a sense of belonging.

C – Citizenship: Striving to be a good citizen by caring about all members in and around the Vimy Ridge Learning Community on a daily basis and by making safe & positive choices.

O – Opportunity: Taking advantage of the opportunities presented at Vimy Ridge on a daily basis.

R – Respect: Respecting yourself, peers, staff, and building confidence in each other.

E – Enthusiasm: Approaching each day with enthusiasm and positive attitudes.

As a District, we have established clear behaviour expectations for all students, from Kindergarten to Grade 12. The expectations are outlined in the District’s Student Behaviour and Conduct Policy which was developed in consultation with students, parents, staff and community members. The policy outlines the rights and responsibilities of students, our expectations for student conduct, and the potential responses when students demonstrate unacceptable behaviour.
